The NBA bombshells kept dropping as Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle announced his decision to leave the organization in a stunning move. Carlisle– one of the top coaches in the league for a long time– might not have to wait too long for his next job. According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, he could be in line for the Milwaukee Bucks gig if Mike Budenholzer is gone after the season.

Wow. After a successful career with the Mavericks that resulted in an NBA title, he could be in line to be the next coach for Giannis Antetokounmpo and a dangerous Bucks team. After having coached Luka Doncic, Carlisle could make the smooth transition to the Eastern Conference and coach the two-time NBA MVP.

What a move that would be, not just for Carlisle, but for Milwaukee. Budenholzer has been on the hot seat after early playoff exits, and if the Bucks don't win the East he is likely out of town as they aim to make the most of the time with Giannis.

The Bucks are hanging fighting for their playoff lives in a 3-2 hole against the Brooklyn Nets, so perhaps the decision to let go of Budenholzer could come soon. For the Bucks sake, hopefully it doesn't, but Carlisle will be a hot commodity and likely target A for just about every NBA head coaching vacancy in the league.
