Dirk Nowitzki has made his selection for the NBA MVP.

The recently retired Dallas Mavericks power forward says that it is Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo who deserves the honor this 2018-19 season.

“Just by record, I give it to Giannis this year,” Nowitzki said.

Now that Dirk Nowitzki has finally closed the book on what has been an iconic career, it appears that the minimal time he has spent on the floor against “The Greek Freak” really has begun to set in.

“Giannis I think deserves it,” Nowitzki continued. “They've had an unbelievable year. I think they (Milwaukee Bucks) have the best record overall. He plays an amazing all-around game, whether it's defense, rebounding, blocking shots, offensive, getting everybody involved.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo, 24, amassed five triple-doubles this season and averaged 27.7 points, 12.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists on a career-best 57.8 percent shooting from the field.

Antetokounmpo's all-around prowess has reshaped the Bucks franchise in just a few seasons, and it's likely going to play a factor when it comes to voting for the MVP.

The Bucks were the league's first team to clinch the playoffs. They head into the postseason with the best overall record in the league at 60-22, three games better than the reigning champion Golden State Warriors.
