Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been under investigation by Tampa Bay police since late December—but not anymore. The investigation has been concluded, and not because they couldn’t find enough evidence to charge him with something.

He didn’t break any laws. The only thing he did wrong was loan a car to the wrong friend. But the police are done looking into the incident now.

“The case is currently inactive because we don't have any witnesses or evidence to place the driver behind the wheel at the time of the crash,” a Tampa Police Dept. spokeswoman wrote in a statement (via Austin Knoblauch of NFL.com).

Back in late December, a car registered to Jackson was found abandoned at a local mall after crashing into a tree. In it, police found 6.3 ounces of marijuana and a couple of .38 caliber bullets. Jackson was contacted by police after the car was found and confirmed he had let a friend borrow the car.

“It was a friend of DeSean's who borrowed his car while he was out of town,” Denise White, a representative for Jackson, said back in December via Mike Garafolo of NFL.com. “None of what was in the car was his obviously. He's dealing with the person that was using it without his knowledge privately. The incident is being handled.”

In the end, all is well that ends well—except maybe for Jackson’s friend. Chances are good he’s never borrowing Jackson’s car again.
