It is no secret that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off a disappointing 2017 NFL season. Fortunately, they have managed to revamp their roster with a number of star-studded additions to the defensive line.

The Bucs were able to acquire the likes of defensive lineman such as Vinny Curry and Jason Pierre-Paul to play alongside Gerald McCoy. However, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, McCoy is well-aware that Tampa Bay must figure out a way to make it work:

“Me going into my ninth year, we need more experience in the room and I am excited about it,” McCoy said. “It’s going to be good. Here’s the thing, the media, you guys see names and you immediately get excited. There is a lot of work to be done.”

Needless to say, there is plenty of truth to McCoy's comments. Just because the Bucs have plenty of tools at their disposal, they must still find a way that they can all coexist and flourish on the same team.

Pierre-Paul and Curry are coming from teams where they served as the anchor of the defense. Since McCoy is now the centerpiece, they are going to have to learn how to play off of him. Tampa Bay also expended their first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft on former Washington defensive tackle Vita Vea. That said, the Bucs will carry the burden of not only helping their veterans flourish in the new defense but even the incoming young players as well.
