As the NFL draft gets closer, there have been more concerns raised about how the virtual draft will work. Tampa Bay Buccaneers General Manager Jason Licht has heard the concerns, but is ready to do whatever he needs to do to complete it.

Jason Licht said the team is going to make sure they have plenty of phones on hand if they need to call the league office to inform them of their pick.

“Sometimes you can get over-technical in these situations,” Jason Licht said via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times . “You want to make sure you have a hardline phone. You want to make sure you have several phones available to you, cell phones, what have you. But sometimes it comes down to old-fashioned picking up the phone and calling on the league office and saying, ‘We’re going to pick this player.’

Jason Licht said the team will have all the scenarios worked out with situations that might arise where the team will have a chance to move around. At this point, Licht and the rest of the staff are just trying to figure out how the technology is going to work and trying to make sure they have a backup plan for any situation that might arise.

“We’ll have all our scenarios done when the draft starts in terms of where I would trade up, where I would trade back. What we’d be looking for, what we would be wanting. What players we’re going to take in order — those types of things. But in terms of the technical part? We’re still working through it a little bit, but I feel very confident.”

This is going to be an interesting draft to watch play out and the hope for all teams is the technology won't fail them during the process. Jason Licht included.
