The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were forced to make yet another switch under center due to the abysmal performance by quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. As a result, it appears quarterback Jameis Winston may be pegged as the starter once again for the Bucs.

Tampa Bay has not been afraid to flip-flop between quarterbacks throughout the 2018 NFL season. According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, head coach Dirk Koetter indicated that Winston could be the starter in Week 12:

After the game, Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter said Winston was “fantastic” but didn’t say who would start against the 49ers in Week 12.

Winston's potential status would certainly come as no surprise. Fitzpatrick's lackluster performance resulted in plenty of missed opportunities to Tampa Bay to get on the scoreboard. He completed 13-of-21 passes for 167 yards and three interceptions before he was pulled by Koetter at halftime.

Meanwhile, Winston led a valiant comeback effort on offense. He completed an efficient 12-of-16 passes for 199 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Although his solid outing is an encouraging sign, his track record suggests that another switch could be made in the near future.

Between Winston's talent and Fitzpatrick's experience, neither player has been able to provide Tampa Bay with any kind of consistency. The one thing they do have in common is their ability to turn the ball over at an atrocious rate. This has largely forced Koetter to see-saw between both quarterbacks and go with whoever has the hot hand. However, the lack of stability under center will undoubtedly continue to plague this team moving forward.
