In the first few days of practice, Tampa Bay Buccaneers veteran wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been able to string together some encouraging steps forward on the practice field.
This has inched another step forward on Thursday as he was able to put together a full practice for the first time since he had reinjured his thumb in Week 12 against the New York Giants, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.
Buccaneers receiver DeSean Jackson had a full practice for the first time since re-injuring his thumb in a Week 12 game against the Giants. Jackson returned to practice Wednesday with limited work.
Jackson has been sidelined for the last couple of weeks after reaggravating the injury that had originally occurred in the season opener against the New Orleans Saints. He had been able to play through it for much of the year until he aggravated it back against the Giants.
Beyond the Buccaneers' continued struggles on the field, Jackson has been quite vocal about his disgruntlement with his fluctuating role in the passing game. He currently has 40 receptions for 750 receiving yards and four touchdowns. In his last four games played, he has failed to reach 40 receiving yards three times while his last touchdown reception came on Oct. 28 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Keep in mind, he had begun the year on a hot stretch with three 100 receiving yard performances it the first four games played.
With the Buccaneers already out of the playoff picture, things could become quite intriguing over the offseason as Jackson will be entering the final year of his three-year, $33.5 million deal that has no dead salary cap hit for the $10 million on the books for the 2019 campaign. This could all may very well shift toward there being a change of scenery for the 32-year-old next offseason.
