The 2018 NFL season has been a big letdown for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but if there’s one that has consistently been a source of pride and motivation by the team, it’s the play of hulking wide receiver Mike Evans.

In fact, Evans has made history just this Sunday by becoming the first player in Bucs franchise history to rack up at least 1,300 yards in more than one season. He accomplished the milestone by collecting 121 receiving yards on four receptions and nine targets, albeit in a 20-12 road loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 15.

Via NFL Research:

Is Mike Evans the best receiver in #Buccaneers history? Already has most rec yds in team history (5,907 and counting). Just set new career high in rec yds for a season (1,328 and counting) Just became 1st player in @Buccaneers history with multiple seasons of 1,300+ rec yds.

As mentioned, Evans is already the owner of the top spot in the Bucs’ list of all-time leaders in receiving yards. He entered the Ravens game with 5,786 receiving yards and 37 scoring receptions – another franchise mark.

Evans has been every bit what Tampa Bay expected him to be since the team signed him to a gargantuan five-year, $82.5 million deal back in the offseason. He was a big part of the early-season Fitzmagic show of veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and is now the unquestioned target of Jameis Winston.

The Bucs are out of playoff contention, but Evans could light it up again next week against the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington.
