The Chicago Bulls are on a roll, winners of four straight games to get to 21-10 on the season. The Bulls are in second place in the Eastern Conference behind only the Brooklyn Nets.

DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine are both killing it this season, while Nikola Vucevic is seemingly finding his groove after a sluggish start. Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso are out right now, but they've been huge for the Bulls this season, especially defensively.

While these guys have all established their roles this season, there's one major rotation battle shaping up for when this roster is healthy. That battle is between young guards Ayo Dosunmu and Coby White.

Chicago drafted Dosunmu in the second round this season, and he has surprisingly made his mark already on this team. Meanwhile, White missed the start of the season after offseason shoulder surgery and has been a roller-coaster ride in his return, with a bout of COVID-19 in there as well.

White's ability to get hot from 3-point range could be a major boon for a Bulls bench that sometimes struggles to score, but a lack of consistency has him shooting 36.8% from the field and 27.3% from 3-point range. While Ayo isn't as explosive of a scorer, he brings much better defense and is a more steady presence.

On the latest episode of Blue Wire's Cash Considerations podcast, I talked about this brewing Bulls rotation battle:

“Right now, Ayo, we have a baseline competency, performance from Ayo that we expect every game from him. He's gonna come in, play hard defensively, can give you some offense. He's fearless. We kind of know what we're gonna get from him. Coby is just such a roller coaster … He's just such a roller coaster, all over the place. He has moments where he gets hot from 3 and he's super fun and he seems like he's awesome. … But you look at his shooting percentages, and he's shooting 27% from 3 and 37% from the field.”

This will be something to watch as the season goes on, especially with White a potential trade chip ahead of the deadline. With the Bulls looking to make a deep playoff run, they'll be looking to make upgrades where they see fit. Either way, the hope is White can find his groove soon while Ayo continues to develop.
