The Chicago Bulls are set to bring in second-year center Diamond Stone to training camp after signing him to a two-year, partially guaranteed deal, per Chris Reichert.

Stone will still be eligible to join the Bulls’ G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls, this season if he doesn’t make the cut for Chicago’s regular season roster.

Stone, 20, was the 40th overall pick in 2016 by the New Orleans Pelicans after just one season at Maryland but was acquired on draft night by the L.A. Clippers. He was unable to get any playing time for the Clippers, though, as he played in just seven regular season games during his rookie year.

Stone spent time in the G League, averaging 16.2 points and 7.0 rebounds in 13 total games for the Santa Cruz Warriors and Salt Lake City Stars.

The Clippers traded Stone to the Atlanta Hawks along with Jamal Crawford in a three-way deal which saw L.A. land Danilo Gallinari. The Hawks went on to waive Stone despite his salary for the 2017-18 season already guaranteed.

With Nikola Mirotic still unsigned, the rebuilding Bulls have two more roster spots up for grabs. Their current center rotation is comprised of veteran Robin Lopez and Cristiano Felicio, who signed a four-year, $32 million this offseason.
