Carmelo Anthony won't play a single game for the Chicago Bulls, but the franchise could hold off on waiving him until the Feb. 7 trade deadline, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Bulls could include Carmelo Anthony in a one-for-one trade, per ESPN.

It's all come full circle for Carmelo Anthony, who was reportedly close to signing with the Bulls during the 2014 free agency. Anthony met with point guard Derrick Rose, center Joakim Noah, head coach Tom Thibodeau and other members of the Bulls' front office in the summer of 2014, but he ended up re-signing with the Knicks on a lucrative contract worth $124 million.

Carmelo Anthony never went to the playoffs with the Knicks after signing that new five-year deal to stay in the Big Apple. The Bulls, meanwhile, took LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers to six games in the 2015 Eastern Conference Finals.

Chicago eventually broke up their core when they traded Rose to the Knicks in 2016 and Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2017. Noah signed with the Knicks in the summer of 2016 as well, joining Rose and Anthony.

Rose, Anthony and Noah played one season together in New York. Rose and Melo put up good numbers, but the Knicks were a walking disaster and finished 31-51.

Where will Carmelo Anthony end up next? Only time will tell, but it appears Chicago is going to hold onto him for a little bit.
