LaMelo Ball is one the biggest names in the upcoming NBA Draft. He clearly has star potential. That’s why many teams have at least shown some interest in acquiring him. But apparently, the Chicago Bulls aren’t one of them.

According to a report by KC Johnson of NBC Sports, the Bulls, who own the fourth overall pick, have yet to reach out to Ball. But the Bulls aren’t alone.

“Almost bizarrely, he even responded ‘I don’t know’ when asked if he had had any pre-draft contact with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Charlotte Hornets, who own the Nos. 1 and 3 picks, respectively.”

In a press conference via Zoom, the 6’8” guard also admitted he has only talked to one team so far: The New York Knicks. However, it’s a long shot that Ball could end up in the Big Apple since the Knicks are picking at no. 8.

NBA Draft, LaMelo Ball

The 19-year-old Ball is coming off a strong one-and-done stint with the Illawarra Hawks in the National Basketball League in Australia. He averaged 17.0 points and team-highs of 7.6 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 1.6 steals in 12 outings. He, however, only shot 37.5% from the field, including an atrocious 25.0% from long distance.

The Bulls already have a plethora of guards with Zach Lavine, Tomas Satoransky, Coby White, Kris Dunn, and Ryan Arcidiacono all sharing minutes. Although there haven’t been reports yet about what new coach Billy Donovan is looking for in the upcoming NBA Draft.

But when it was Ball who was asked for his preference, he confidently said it doesn’t matter where he ends up.

“Anywhere is a great fit. It’s the NBA. You put me with good players I feel it’s going to be even better.”

The 2020 NBA Draft is set for November 18.
