Despite not having a big time superstar and having a horrendous season, the Chicago Bulls have managed to lead the 2017-2018 season in attendance.

As observed by Reddit user u/zzb211, the Bulls are the number one in terms of arena attendance. Updated statistics posted by ESPN reveal that Bulls' home games have attracted 851,824 audience members. On average, 20,776 fans attend and watch the Bulls play at home.

Next on the list is the Cleveland Cavaliers, who attracted 843,042 fans or roughly 20,562 per game. Followed by the Philadelphia 76ers, the Toronto Raptors, and rounding up the top five are the Dallas Mavericks. It's easy to comprehend why the aforementioned teams are in the top five in audience attendance. The Cavs have LeBron, the Sixers have Ben Simmons.

What's interesting about the case of the Bulls is that their supposed superstar Zach LaVine was out for the majority of the season due to an injury. He only played 24 games.

On top of this, the Bulls weren't exactly making waves in the win-loss column. They finished the season with a 27-55 record and throughout the year, they showed no signs of making it to the playoffs.

A quick look at the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL might reveal some bigger hints.

They also boast number one in audience attendance with 887,794 in 41 home games or 21,653 per game. And just like the Bulls, they have a mediocre record of 33-39 and did not qualify for the playoffs.

A much comprehensive investigation should be done in order to come up with a right conclusion. But from the given facts, it seems that Chicago simply loves sports. And they are willing to shell out money even if their teams are losing.
