Chicago Bulls rookie point guard Coby White says his sixth man role “has been challenging” since he hasn't come off the bench in years.

While White says he's “embracing” his role on the Bulls, he knows he's going to be a starter one day in Chicago.

“This has been challenging for me for sure,” White said, via Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times. “I haven’t come off the bench in years. I’m embracing it and trying to do whatever I can to help my team win in this role. Whatever is asked of me, because I know it’s not going to be like this forever.”

White is averaging 12.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Bulls, who are 7-14 after defeating the Sacramento Kings on Monday. The 19-year-old is shooting 37.0 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 79.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bulls have been starting Tomas Satoransky this season at the point guard spot. With that said, it is unlikely for White to start a single game this season unless both Satoransky and Kris Dunn are hurt.

However, the Bulls didn't draft White with the seventh overall pick to be a bench player. Eventually, Chicago will hand the keys to the offense to White and let him run the show. It just won't happen this season.
