Injuries continue to decimate the frontcourt of the Chicago Bulls. With starting center Wendell Carter Jr. already sidelined with an ankle injury, the Bulls turned to backup Daniel Gafford to fill in.

However, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the rookie big man is expected to miss two to four weeks after suffering dislocated right thumb during their game against the Washington Wizards.

Gafford's sustained the injury during the first quarter of their showdown with the Wizards. After picking off a pass by Ian Mahinmi, the big man stopped and bent as he held his hands. He immediately went to the locker room as his thumb can be sen being bent back abnormally.

The Bulls drafted Daniel Gafford out of Arkansas in the second round of the 2019 NBA draft. The 6-foot-9 big man is averaging 4.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per in 13.2 minutes per game. The rookie has also been extremely efficient, shooting 67.3 percent from the floor.

On the other hand, Carter was Chicago's No. 7 overall pick in 2018. In his second season, the former Duke star has averaged 11.7 points and a team-leading 9.9 rebounds per game.

With Gafford expected to miss two to four weeks and Carter expected to miss four to six weeks himself, the Bulls will continue to dig down their frontcourt depth chart. Seven-foot-two center Luke Kornet is the only other center on the roster.

Kornet has appeared in 21 games for Chicago this season but has largely struggled.

Other than Kornet, 6-foot-10, 270-pound Brazilian power forward Cristiano Felicio has the chance to get significant playing time for the first time this season.

Chicago has a top-10 defense in the NBA this season, but that hasn't prevented them from struggling. At 14-27, the Bulls have the 10th best record in the Eastern Conference and are currently five games behind the Brooklyn Nets from the eighth spot.
