DeMar DeRozan is shaking off all of his past criticisms. Before, the Chicago Bulls forward was criticized for his penchant of disappearing towards the end of close games. That, coupled with his terrible playoff performances, has made NBA fans call him a serial choker, unreliable when you need him to be.

This season, though, DeRozan has flipped that narrative on its head. In a season full of close games, DeMar has emerged as the team's designated closer, pulling off clutch performance after clutch performance for the Bulls this season. Over this past few games, he's upped his performance a notch, giving off Michael Jordan-esque vibes. (via Marc J. Spears)

DeRozan once again came up huge for the Bulls against the Los Angeles Lakers. He matched LeBron James' production, putting up 38 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds to win 115 – 100. On the season, DeMar DeRozan is averaging 38 points against the Lakers, coming second to Michael Jordan yet again in another category.

The Bulls have badly needed every bit of DeRozan's scoring this year. After a fiery start to the season, the team was wrecked by COVID-19, causing many key players like LaVine and even DeRozan to miss significant time. As a result, the Bulls lost crucial ground in a surprisingly tough Eastern Conference. Having Deebo back to wreck havoc in the fourth quarter is huge.

As for DeMar DeRozan, he's done well eliminating his inner demons so far this season. However, he has one more narrative he needs to destroy: his playoff choking image. Can he turn a new leaf this season and elevate the Bulls into championship contention? Find out soon.
