DeMar DeRozan is high spirits about the next chapter of his career.  The newest Chicago Bulls star is adamant that after his productive stints with the San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors, things are only getting better for him.

DeRozan raved about his new team, even claiming that the Bulls roster was the most talented he's ever been on. This led him to call it the “best part” of his career.

Via Sam Smith on NBA.com:

“I'm really looking forward to it tomorrow, the start of camp,” the Bulls new free agent forward told reporters Monday. “The talent is there. I don't think I've played with as talented a team as I have since coming here. Now it's about just putting it together and me doing my part, being a veteran on the team, bringing it all together and helping it mesh a little quicker.

“I think (this is) for me, the best part of my career,” continued DeRozan. “With the knowledge that I've gained over the years, my perspective on how I approach the game, how I approach preparation, everything to the game. It took me 13 years to get to the point that I'm at mentally, physically, emotionally in approaching the game. So for me, I think it's just my best go-round.”

It'll be hard to imagine that DeMar DeRozan still has his best years ahead of him, and that's not a knock on his present skill and fitness level as he joins the Bulls. DeRozan's 2016-17 season with the Raptors saw him average 27.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game en route to an All-NBA finish.

However, DeRozan has been a strong advocate for mental health, speaking out on his mental state in the past. Perhaps his headspace improvement has a lot to do with his cheery outlook in Chicago. His time with the Spurs has also equipped him with the necessary skillset to make things work.

“In my time in San Antonio (the last three seasons playing for Gregg Popovich), I learned so much more about myself as a player, what I was able and capable of doing. It grew me more as a leader. And this time around, it's just putting everything I've learned in my career all together. It's just put me at a different level physically and mentally.”

DeRozan may have been his best self on the Raptors, but his learnings from his time in San Antonio will prove to be huge for him in Chicago. He learned to be a facilitator, averaging 6.2 assists per game in three seasons wearing silver and black compared to just 3.1 assists in Toronto. He even averaged a career-high 6.9 assists per contest last season.

He's no longer going to be the number one option with Zach LaVine in the fold, and you can make the argument that he won't be number two either, depending on how you feel about Nikola Vucevic. So his newfound skills as a playmaker could be one secret to making things all work together.

The Bulls have built something exciting in Chicago this season. DeMar DeRozan is clearly just as excited as we are.
