Zach LaVine is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and sure enough, he'll be seeking a max contract from the Chicago Bulls and all his potential suitors. For DeMar DeRozan, though, his teammate is worth it.

DeRozan sent that message loud and clear to the Bulls following their playoff elimination at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 5. The veteran swingman wants to play once again and continue his partnership with LaVine, highlighting how the high-flyer is that rare breed of player that not all teams are lucky to have.

“Yeah. Max player, max talent, max everything,” DeRozan said of LaVine, per NBC Sports. “He's one of those players in this league that you don't see too often. I tell him all the time how envious I am of the things he's able to do. He deserves everything that's coming to him for sure.”

Zach LaVine can command a contract north of $200 million with the Bulls after his brilliant and consistent play throughout the past four years since his first extension with the team. As an unrestricted free agent, he has all the leverage in negotiations as well.

As DeMar DeRozan said, however, LaVine has earned every bit of it and more. He has proven himself to be a franchise player, and so he should get paid like one.

The 27-year-old LaVine was also one of the biggest reasons why DeRozan joined the Bulls in the past offseason. With what they have built so far in their first year together, it would just be wrong for the Bulls to ruin that and take a step back in their bid to return to title contention.
