The Chicago Bulls have decided to part ways with head coach Fred Hoiberg. As it turns out, the 46-year-old now former coach of the Bulls was pretty much blindsided by his firing, as he reportedly assumed he had a longer leash than he actually had.

The Bulls have been struggling this season, having only won five out the 24 games played so far this season. They are currently on a six-game skid and now have the third-worst record in the NBA. Only the Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns have a worse record than the Bulls at this point.

Hoiberg's firing does come as a bit of a surprise, considering how low the expectations were for the Bulls coming into the season. The team was not expected to be competitive this term, so their poor start to the season has been anything but shocking.

Moreover, the Bulls have been dealing with a ton of injuries so far this season, and Hoiberg has not even had the chance to coach the team at full strength. Lauri Markkanen just made his season debut on Saturday after missing the first month and a half of the season, while guys like Kris Dunn, Denzel Valentine, and Bobby Portis continue to be sidelined due to various injuries.

Fred Hoiberg parts ways with the Bulls after three season and will leave with a 115-155 overall record.
