Not much is expected from the Chicago Bulls in the 2018-19 season. After all, they didn't exactly make win-now moves over the summer to make their team better right away, but more so looked at who they could be down the line. Head coach Fred Hoiberg firmly believes that his team has a chance this year.

As reported by Karl Bullock of Sports Illustrated, Hoiberg shared his awareness of the talks and whispers about his team. Last season, the Bulls were one of the bottom feeders with a 27-55 record. For him, the criticisms can only serve as motivation:

“The experts that throw the expectations out there, the numbers [win totals], aren’t real high,” he said. “You’ve got to use that as motivation and go out there and prove people wrong.”

In addition, Hoiberg took a closer look at the stat sheets. He discovered that his players had remarkable stats when broken down per 36 minutes. Hoiberg believes that the good things they did last season will carry over this year.

“You look at our guys numbers, I think all but one of our players last year had a career year when you look at their per 36 minutes,” he said. “I think the way we had that stretch last season and did a relatively good job on taking care of the ball with the pace. If we could carry some of those things over, we’re going to have a chance this year.”
