Chicago native and NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas claims Derrick Rose lived out every Chicago kid's dream by playing for his hometown Chicago Bulls.

Thomas was drafted by the rival Detroit Pistons and became a legend in Detroit, but he would be lying if he didn't tell you he was a little jealous of Rose since Derrick got to stay home, play for the Bulls and become a legend in his hometown:

“He’s a living, flesh-and-blood embodiment of all our dreams,” Thomas said of Rose, via NBA.com

“Because every kid in the city grew up dreaming of playing for the Chicago Bulls and hearing our name called running out of that tunnel. That’s every kid’s dream. And Derrick Rose is the one … basically, he was the chosen one to live that dream.

“And not only did he live it, he became MVP of the league. It doesn’t get any higher than that. It just doesn’t. That’s why you not only have to see him and protect him, you have to make sure he gets the right knowledge around him, because you know he could be the voice out of Chicago that speaks to the world.”

Rose was the No. 1 overall pick by the Bulls in 2008. He won Rookie of the Year in 2009 and became the youngest MVP in NBA history during the 2010-11 season.

Rose finished his Bulls career with averages of 19.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists. He is still the most popular Bulls player in the post-Michael Jordan era.

Rose is on the Pistons now, but he will always be a hero in Chicago.
