NBA analyst Jalen Rose could see a world in which Anthony Davis returns to his hometown of Chicago and plays with the Bulls in a not-so distant future. The former player turned ESPN personality said on Get Up that Davis had already planted the seeds for a potential move.

“Guys are planning years ahead,” said Rose. “I’m gonna say this right now: Don’t be surprised if Anthony Davis ends up with the Bulls. We see Kawhi Leonard and Paul George go back to California, we see LeBron James go back to Cleveland. He’s already planting the seeds.”

While Rose is right about free agency happening two years before a player can become eligible to opt out of his contract, Davis has given no clear indication that he'd be willing to play for the Bulls, besides saying he wouldn't rule it out.

“I mean, (this is) definitely hometown,” he told The Chicago Tribune when asked about the possibility of signing with the Bulls one day. “If the opportunity ever presents itself and when that time comes, I’d definitely consider it.”

Yet this is the same man who spoke with the media during the All-Star break and said all other 29 teams in the league were an option as a destination. The same who once proclaimed his commitment to New Orleans, only to take it away in a flash after his own agent blurbed out news of his trade request.

Nothing is certain in the NBA, and Rose knows that. Davis' agent Rich Paul said his client would test free agency no matter what next summer — if the Bulls proved to have some promise and the Lakers wind up being an absolute disaster despite the high expectations, Davis could start looking to settle down in his hometown and be the star they have missed since Derrick Rose's glory days in the beginning of the decade.
