Chicago Bulls head coach Jim Boylen joined the long list of NBA personalities who expressed support to Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic. The Trail Blazers starting center will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to address a left leg injury.

Nurkic had an awkward fall during their win against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. When he fell down to the floor, players were quick to leave the scene after seeing the gruesome injury sustained by the Bosnian center.

Boylen voiced out his support to Nurkic, who he is quite familiar with, having coached him in an event before. The first-year head coach admitted that the injury was a tough pill to swallow for the 24-year-old, but he is hoping for a speedy recovery from the injury.

“Our heart goes out to Jusuf Nurkic. We watched that game the other day. It’s a tough thing for him. I coached him in the Basketball without Borders. He’s a great kid, he’s a fun kid. We wish him the best and we hope for a speedy recovery,” Boylen said via the Chicago Bulls' official Twitter account.

According to ESPN, Nurkic underwent successful surgery to repair a fractured fibula and tibia in his left leg on Tuesday. He is expected to make a full recovery, but there is still no timetable for his return to basketball activity.

Nurkic, who is playing in his fifth season in the league, is having another solid year for Portland. The 24-year old is averaging 15.6 points and 10.4 rebounds on top of 3.2 assists per game. He is shooting 50.8 percent from the field and is also doing the dirty job on defense, tallying 1.4 blocks and 1.0 steals a game.

The Trail Blazers are expected to advance to the playoffs again this season. With Nurkic out, Portland will heavily rely on Enes Kanter, who was acquired earlier in the season after he was waived by the New York Knicks.
