The Chicago Bulls will have a new face on the bench in the 2019-20 NBA season after head coach Jim Boylen hired his top assistant.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Boylen hired Brooklyn Nets assistant coach Chris Fleming to become a part of his coaching staff for next season. He will be taking a big role, as he will be the deputy head coach of the Bulls, who are looking to find solutions to their issues over the past several seasons.

Fleming is a crucial part of the coaching staff of Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson, as he is assigned to run their offense. He also earned praises for his performance during his stint with the Denver Nuggets during the 2015-16 season. The veteran coach also coached the German National Team during the 2017 European Championships.

The development came just days after the Bulls and Boylen agreed to a contract extension on Friday. Boylen rose to prominence when he was selected to replace Chicago head coach Fred Hoiberg, who was let go in December after a 5-19 start to the season. Hoiberg finished his Bulls career with a win-loss record of 115-155, making the playoffs once in three seasons.

Immediately after he took the job, there were reports about conflicts between Bulls players and Boylen, who eventually ended up with a 17-41 as the head coach this season. But despite the rumored turmoil, the Bulls front office made it clear that they are planning to stick with Boylen in the long run, which was eventually confirmed by the extension signed last week.
