In the last couple of weeks, the Chicago Bulls have dealt with an internal issue involving forwards Bobby Portis and Nikola Mirotic that sent the latter to the hospital while an eight-game suspension was handed down to Portis.

All of this has raised questions about what the Bulls will do once Mirotic returns to the team later this season once he is medically cleared. According to Cody Westerlund of 670TheScore.com, general manager John Paxson stated that the team will operate in its best interest moving forward.

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise given the type of distraction that this has already become in the days that followed. It has also brought into question Portis' long-term future with the team given his involvement in the situation that his action led to Mirotic suffering a concussion and maxillary fractures to his face that could require surgery.

Portis has issued a public apology to Mirotic, his teammates, and the organization but it has left some uneasy with the situation. There are clearly concerns that things could persist and cause further issues down the road.

Ultimately, the Bulls may take the “wait and see” approach to determine if making a trade or a roster move would be best for the organization.
