John Paxson, a man often drawing heat from fans of the Chicago Bulls, wants to temper the hype surrounding the young core in the Windy City.

How do we know this? He literally said as much.

When asked of all the youth currently on the roster, most of which came with high NBA Draft selections, Paxson responded in a way that clearly hints at not wanting expectations to get out of control.

“We’re really pleased. But it guarantees nothing. And we’re not saying it does,” executive vice president John Paxson said in an interview last week following Jabari Parker’s introductory news conference. “It’s hard to win at a high level with young players. But the point I keep going back to is when we made the deal for Jimmy, we said we wanted to get a jump-start on the rebuild. We did that in the deal and we’ve quickly added three other pieces to that. It’s exciting.”

Paxson would then go on to talk about the Bulls having a variety of players who can step up on any given night, not wanting to give in to the idea that Chicago needs a so-called main guy to carry the franchise to success.

Only time will tell how things work in the Windy City, but with some talented youngsters trotting about the hardwood, there's a level of optimism in Chicago that's deserved.
