The Chicago Bulls will be getting reinforcements soon from the injured reserve, as both forward Bobby Portis and guard Kris Dunn participated in full practice and continue recovering from knee injuries.

Even though there's not a target date for the return of the players, it's an encouraging sign to see that both are healthy enough to participate in a live practice.

Portis has played in only four games this season, but was very solid, averaging 10.5 points, 10 rebounds, and a block per game.

Dunn only managed to play one game before his injury, but he had a much improved season last year for the Bulls after being acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Zach LaVine-Jimmy Butler trade. He started 43 games for the rebuilding team, averaging 13.4 points and six assists.

Both players have been sorely missed by one of the worst teams in the league. The Bulls are currently focusing on improving their young talent in order to be competitive in a few years, and Portis and Dunn are two of these projects.

Because of the combination of a young, inexperienced roster (the team is the fifth youngest in the league), coaching turmoil, and injuries, the Bulls currently hold the worst record in the Eastern Conference at 5-20.

Dunn and Portis returning to the team won't lift them to playoff contention, but they will give the Bulls a chance to further develop and see which young players will become cornerstones for the future roster.
