Lauri Markkanen is one of the most promising young players on the Chicago Bulls, and he's looking to take more of a leadership role amid the current chaos.

Laurri Markkanen spoke to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune and discussed the Bulls' situation. He also explained how he expressed his opinion about the team potentially skipping practice.

“I wanted to have my opinion and let players know what I think,” Markkanen said Wednesday. “I think I can be one of the leaders of the team. That’s what I suggested. That’s how it went.”

Markkanen was against skipping practice and the 21-year-old took a mature view of the situation.

“I thought that was a more professional way to go about it,” Markkanen added. “I thought about other members of the staff. Like, they show up to work. Obviously, this isn’t the main point, but some of the staff lives an hour away and they come to work.

“I try to think how disrespectful that is to tell them that we wouldn’t show up.”

Markkanen seems to be wise beyond his years, and he didn't want to skip practice because of the other members of the staff. He's thinking of others before himself, which is a nice quality for a leader to have.

Additionally, Markkanen is a uniquely talented player who can score in a variety of ways. He's a 7-footer, but he's more than comfortable on the perimeter as well. There is a lot of dysfunction in Chicago right now, but Markkanen's growth and development as one of the key voices of the team could be a silver lining.
