Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso remain out for the Chicago Bulls, but based on Billy Donovan's latest update, they are progressing nicely and as expected in their recovery.

Ahead of the Bulls' game on Thursday in the return of NBA action following the All-Star break, Donovan shared that Ball has “ramped up more of his running” as compared to the previous weeks, per NBC Sports.

To recall, Ball suffered a torn meniscus and bone bruise in his right knee that needed surgery. Chicago gave a timetable of six to eight weeks for his recovery, and so far, he is in his fourth week since the Januar8 28 operation.

Meanwhile, Caruso continues to recover from surgery to address his fractured right wrist. He also has a timeline of up to two months, and Donovan now said he is getting closer to touching the basketball again.

“We're hoping by the end of this week, certainly early next week, that he'll have a ball in his hands and be able to do things,” the Bulls coach added.

Both Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso are key cogs for the Bulls, and their presence is much needed if Chicago wants to make the playoffs and stage a deep run.

The Bulls are still competing for the top spot in the East, and with the way things are going, they are almost assured of a playoff spot. However, it will certainly be helpful if both Ball and Caruso can return sooner and shake off the rust before the postseason.
