Before there was a Robin Lopez terrorizing Benny The Bull, a man by the name of Michael Jordan used his trash-talk game to troll even the most innocent of figures. Jordan was known for mercilessly trash-talking opponents and even some of his teammates.

J.A. Adande, who covered the Chicago franchise during his days as a reporter with the Chicago Sun-Times, revealed during a guest appearance on The Lowe Post podcast that Jordan would even prey on the team mascot.

Transcript via Dan Feldman of NBC Sports:

“Benny The Bull sort of – his shape morphs over the years, and he becomes this more rotund Phillie Phanatic type of body – right? – over the years with the dyed hair. So, then, Zach, you remember they bring in Da Bull, who – as you’re getting into the more athletic mascots in the 90s, the guys who jump off the trampolines and stuff. So, Benny has become this overweight Bull. So, they add Da Bull to all this trampoline stuff, right? So, Jordan being Jordan trash talks Benny The Bull and says, ‘You’re no good. That’s why they brought in Da Bull to replace you.' He used to trash talk Benny The Bull.”

Da Bull, who made his first appearance during the 1995-96 season, was the dunking cousin of Benny The Bull.

Unlike Benny's blood-red color, Da Bull was a lightish brown and distinctively did not have a tail. An injury to the mascot's hoof during the 1999-00 season sidelined him briefly, but he was able to return to his trampoline ways after a short recovery period.

Chester Brewer, who was under the costume, was arrested in 2004 for illegally selling marijuana from his car, according to the Chicago Tribune, which put an end to the mascot.

Perhaps it's no wonder Jordan had some friendly banter with the mascot, considering he raced to the practice facility, made plenty of bets with team security, and even partook in a few back-and-forths with the media.
