The Chicago Bulls have endured just about the most inauspicious start to the 2017-18 NBA season a team can have. Aside from the departure of superstars Jimmy Butler and Dwayne Wade, the Bulls had an altercation between Bobby Portis and Nikola Mirotic that left the latter with multiple facial fractures.

Mirotic even took a brief hiatus from Chicago during his recovery before coming back to address the elephant in the locker room. According to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, Mirotic now feels he can coexist with Portis:

“I've been playing this game 9 years professionally. I was always a good teammate, always professional with everybody. I'm going to continue to do that. If I'm here, it's because I want to support the team. He's a part of the team. I'm going to support him too”

It is encouraging to see the fourth-year forward finally start to come around after there was speculation early on that he would refuse to play on the same team as Portis. However, it seems he is ready to let bygones be bygones for the good of struggling Bulls team.

Mirotic still has yet to play since the incident occurred just days before the season opener. Needless to say, Chicago could certainly use his scoring punch off the bench as they currently rank dead last in the NBA in offensive rating (94.1).
