Chicago Bulls forward Otto Porter Jr. is expected to return around the All-Star break in February, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Porter has not suited up since early November after team doctors discovered a fracture in his left foot. He was declared “out” indefinitely at the time, though the it now appears that a timeline is developing:

Bulls forward Otto Porter Jr. is aiming for a return around the All-Star break in February, according to league sources. Porter has played in only nine games and has not played since Nov. 6 due to a small fracture in his left foot.

The Bulls acquired Porter from the Washington Wizards this past February, and Porter gave Chicago arguably the best stretch of his career to conclude the 2018-19 season.

Porter averaged 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 50 percent from beyond the arc in 15 games with the Bulls. Porter was averaging 11.2 points and 3.4 rebounds while playing just over 25 minutes per game through his first nine appearances of this year.

The former Georgetown star was somewhat of a surprise acquisition for the Bulls, mostly due to the fact that he is making over $27 million this season and has a $28.4 million player option for the 2020-21 season.

Chicago sorely miss Porter's offensive capabilities. The Bulls rank 29th out of 30 teams in offensive rating and 24th in scoring average, according to Basketball Reference. Zach LaVine has continued his ascension as a scoring star, but Lauri Markkanen has struggled on the offensive end while rookie guard Coby White has been one of the more inefficient players in the league.

The Bulls will hope that they can stay in the playoff picture as they await Porter's return.
