The Chicago Bulls are going to finish with one of the worst records in the NBA this season, but swingman Otto Porter Jr. feels the organization is headed in the right direction.

The Bulls acquired Porter from the Washington Wizards at the trade deadline in exchange for Jabari Parker and Bobby Portis. Chicago is 4-2 with Porter in the starting lineup.

We have a lot of young guys, young pieces,” Porter told Chris Crouse of Hoops Rumors. “The team is definitely headed in the right direction, trying to get back to winning basketball here. I’m one of the oldest on the team, so I have to [play a different role]. It’s pretty cool to be one of the vets here.”

In six games with the Bulls, Porter is averaging 17.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest while shooting 54.5 percent from the field, 51.9 percent from beyond the arc and 81.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Porter is expected to return to the lineup Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies. In his last game against the Grizzlies right before the All-Star break, he poured in a career-high 37 points on 16-of-20 shooting.

The Bulls are hoping Otto Porter Jr., shooting guard Zach LaVine and power forward Lauri Markkanen can become a lethal Big 3 for the franchise. Chicago is in the second season of its rebuild after trading All-Star small forward Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the summer of 2017.
