The Chicago Bulls suffered another blowout loss on Saturday, this time at the hands of a surging Houston Rockets side, 117-94.

Bulls sophomore big man Wendell Carter Jr. was one of the few bright spots for Chicago, with the 6-foot-9 big man posting a 13-point, 16-rebound double-double, along with two steals and two blocks. Following one of his best games of the new campaign, the promising 20-year-old shared his two cents worth on why he thinks the Bulls have been off to another sluggish start this season.

“We all know what our problem is,” Wendell Carter said, via The Athletic's Darnell Mayberry. “It’s very obvious we can’t close out games. We have to all look in the mirror and say we’re going to do our job all 48 minutes.”

On Saturday, the Rockets used a huge third quarter to separate themselves from the Bulls, who were actually putting up a fight in the first half. After the break, however, Houston torched Chicago in the third quarter, outscoring them 36-18. The Bulls looked more like deers in headlight, not knowing what hit them.

This has been the story for Chicago for pretty much the entire season, as Mayberry further explains.

Here’s how bad it’s been. The Bulls have a 97.7 defensive rating in first halves, with a +1.3 net rating. But in second halves, the Bulls’ defensive rating plummets to 115.4, with a -10.4 net rating.

Strong first half performances prove that the Bulls are capable of being competitive in the league. They will just need to figure out how to maintain this level of play for the entirety of the ballgame.
