Wendell Carter Jr. of the Chicago Bulls believes that the team let the city down last season and vowed to bounce back next year.

Via Instagram, Wendell Carter reflected briefly on his rookie campaign as well as the Bulls' mediocre season. The 6-foot-10 forward/center is more than ready to get back there on the court and revive the Bulls' winning tradition:

“Chicago bulls is one hell of organization who is know for winning in the past and we’ve let this city down this past year … it’s been long enough and I’m ready to give this city what they’ve been begging to see … going into my sophomore year as a professional athlete, I’m wiser, stronger, and a better basketball player”

Wenell Carter, the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, played and started 44 games last season. He averaged 10.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.3 blocks across 25.2 minutes. He also shot 48.5 percent from the field. However, his rookie campaign was cut short as he had to undergo thumb surgery on March 24, 2019. He was subsequently ruled out of the season.

The Bulls tallied a 22-60 record last season — a year filled with controversy involving head coach Jim Boylen who was hired after the firing of Fred Hoiberg in December.

As such, the upcoming season will be a fresh start for Carter Jr. and his teammates. The exciting thing about the Bulls is that they are filled with young and talented players like Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen, Kris Dunn, and rookie Coby White. All the Bulls need now is ample time to develop that chemistry. But they all have the right tools to bring the organization back to its winning ways.
