Chicago Bulls second-year big man Wendell Carter Jr. is doubtful to face the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.

Carter still isn't practicing with the team. The Bulls center suffered a bruised tailbone last week and is still feeling pain:

However, that didn't stop the youngster from getting up some shots at the Advocate Center on Tuesday:

The Bulls were forced to start Cristiano Felicio on Monday against the Milwaukee Bucks in the preseason opener with Wendell Carter Jr. sidelined. Felicio finished with six points, four rebounds and one assist in 17 minutes of action.

Once he's healthy, Carter is expected to start alongside Zach LaVine, Otto Porter and Lauri Markkanen for the Bulls. Kris Dunn or Tomas Satoransky will start at point guard.

Last season for Chicago, Carter averaged 10.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 44 games while shooting 48.5 percent from the field and 79.5 percent from the free-throw line. He had season-ending surgery on his thumb and also underwent offseason surgery to repair an abdominal muscle injury.

It has been a tough start to training camp for Carter. He suffered an ankle sprain on the first day of practice and is now dealing with this tailbone injury. The Bulls need Carter to stay healthy and play at a high level during the regular season if they want to make the playoffs.
