Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls logged in 41 points in their win over the New York Knicks. His scoring outburst makes him the first Bulls player to score at least 40 points since Jimmy Butler in January 2017.

Along with 41 points, LaVine also notched four rebounds and four assists to his name in their 115-116 overtime victory against the Knicks. The likes of Jabari Parker and Antonio Blakeney also chipped in with 15 and 17 points, respectively.

The Bulls are now 3-8 to start off the season. And excluding their latest game, LaVine is logging in 26.6 points per game on 46.8 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from downtown. From being tagged as one of the most athletic players in the league, LaVine is slowly developing into a legitimate franchise player.

Per Sam Smith, via NBA.com, LaVine made it clear that he wants to perform at a high level every night. He knows that he has to achieve a certain level of consistency to be considered one of the league's elites.

“That I can be that consistent number one scorer guy, that number one option,” LaVine insisted. “I think everybody sees me as being one of the leaders on the team. I want to be that guy in that role and continue to show that. I've shown some spots of that and I'm going to continue to work at that. Going to the offseason that's what I'm working at. I want to be an elite player in this league and I'm not going stop until I'm at that stage.”

Zach LaVine is certainly doing himself a favor to start the season. After a slugging return from an ACL injury last year, the former dunk champion is out to rectify his spot as one of the league's top scorers.
