Zach LaVine was El Fuego to start the Chicago Bulls‘ home game against the New Orleans Pelicans at United Center on Wednesday. The 25-year-old guard showed how lethal of a scorer he has become, torching the helpless Pels defense for 20 first quarter points.

The two-time NBA Slam Dunk Champion was immaculate from deep in the first 12 minutes, going five-for-five and shooting 7-for-8 from the field overall.

Here's the Bulls star splashing three after three over NOLA's backcourt:

While initially deemed simply as a high-flyer when he first entered the league in 2014, Zach LaVine has indeed become one of the most well-rounded scorers in the game today. Entering Wednesday's match versus the Pelicans, the former UCLA Bruin was notching 27.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.2 steals in 23 games. He has been lighting up opposing defenses all season long, making 50.9 percent of his field goals and 40.9 of his 3-pointers.

The Bulls swingman was a borderline All-Star last year, and he's certainly making an even stronger case to make it this season. But despite LaVine's individual brilliance, Chicago was off to an underwhelming 9-14 start (12th in the Eastern Conference Standings). With the trade deadline fast approaching, LaVine's name has even been linked to several trade rumors as of late.

The Pelicans defense better key in on LaVine or he'll have another big scoring night at their expense.
