Two-time Slam Dunk Contest champion Zach LaVine believes the event isn't for him anymore. The Chicago Bulls star won the competition back-to-back in 2015 and 2016 when he was a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves, with the 2016 contest featuring an all-time battle with Aaron Gordon.

Now that he has established himself as one of the league's best scorers, LaVine doesn't think that setting is the right one for him to display his true talents:

Zach LaVine was selected to his first All-Star Game this season, and some believe he should have been an All-Star last season as well.  In 34 games this season, he's averaging 28.7 points on outstanding efficiency. His game has developed tremendously while playing in Chicago, proving that his All-Star selection was no mistake. Even though he won't be participating in the Slam Dunk Contest, it looks like LaVine is going to try to have his own in-game competition during Sunday's exhibition contest as a member of Team Durant.

Zach LaVine will also once again take part in the 3-Point Contest prior to Sunday's game. The Bulls star was in the event last year in Chicago, but he bowed out with a first-round loss. The sharpshooter will look to redeem himself this time around, and his 43.5% 3-point mark this season suggests he has a great chance to win in a stacked field. If he wins, he'll be the first player in NBA history to win both the Slam Dunk Contest and 3-Point Contest.
