Zach LaVine will be an unrestricted free agent in 2022 if he doesn't sign an extension this summer, but whatever the case may be, it doesn't look like he's leaving the Chicago Bulls.

The 26-year-old guard hinted as much when asked about his contract status, noting that he expects to be in talks with the Bulls sooner rather than later. For what it's worth, LaVine emphasized at the end of the 2020-21 season his belief and confidence that he'll get paid properly when his time comes.

“I think that's going to play out the right way. I'm not even worried about it right now. But we should be in talks soon. And we'll see what happens,” LaVine said, per KC Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.

Zach LaVine is eligible for a four-year, $104 million extension this summer. However, he is expected to let his current contract pass since he can make up to $200 million in five years in his next contract when he enters free agency in 2022.

His upcoming free agency couldn't come at a better time as well, especially since LaVine just made his first All-Star team in 2020-21 and is poised to do so again in the coming season. He is expected to have plenty of suitors in free agency, so the Bulls surely need to be ready to give Zach the bag if they want to keep him.

Fortunately for the Bulls, it looks like LaVine has every intention to negotiate with the team regarding his future in Chicago.
