Zach LaVine has been outstanding since joining the Chicago Bulls some three years ago. He was having arguably his best year of his career prior to the league suspension, with averages of a career-best 25.7 points (on 45.0 percent shooting), 4.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.5 steals, while also knocking down 3.1 triples per contest (also a career-high) on a 38.0-percent clip.

Nonetheless, Zach LaVine knows that he can still take his game a notch or two higher. Recently, the 6-foot-6 guard opened up about what he feels he must do in order to get a call-up to the esteemed All-Star squad.

“I mean, I took it and used it as motivation last year,” Zach LaVine said about being snubbed for the All-Star team this season, via Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype. “I thought I had an All-Star-caliber season last year too. But what I’ve learned through this and through basketball is that everything comes with winning…

“Coming out of high school and college, I’ve always been a winning player. Now, I just want to do it in the NBA. Then, I think you’ll get the recognition that you deserve. I’ll take it with a grain of salt. Obviously, I think I was an All-Star. I think I’m an All-Star player. I have bigger and better goals than even All-Star for myself because that’s the type of work I put in. Once I get that winning pedigree, I think it’ll all come out.”

Zach LaVine wants to help the Bulls.

“I’m extremely hungry,” he added. “[Winning] is something that I want to do and get better at. The hardest thing in sports is learning how to win. It drives me because I’ve accomplished a lot of things, but that’s something that I haven’t accomplished. I’m looking forward to the chance to go out there and show everybody that we can do this…”

Perhaps the league suspension is something that will work in the benefit of Zach LaVine and the Bulls. Hopefully, the fire he exhibited in this interview is something that translates to his play on the court next season.
