Chicago Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine is slated to undergo an MRI on his injured ankle after he said he heard a “pop” during Thursday night's game against the Orlando Magic, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.

LaVine expressed confidence after the loss, saying “he'd be fine” — yet the imaging is likely for precautionary reasons, as players aren't often the best doctors out there when it comes to their own injuries.

“I think it was just some fluid or something,” said LaVine after the Bulls took a 97-91 loss, cementing their last place in the Eastern Conference. “I’ll be alright by Saturday. I’m walking around.”

The 23-year-old has been one of the lone bright spots for the Bulls after the organization matched his four-year, $78 million deal as a restricted free agent, currently posting the best all-around numbers of his career.

While he showed potential to be a 20-point scorer during his third year with the Minnesota Timberwolves, LaVine has brought that potential to fruition, averaging 23.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game, shooting a steady 45 percent from the field despite a regression with his long-range acumen (32.6 percent).

LaVine has also proved more aggressive than ever seeking contact, making six trips to the line per contest and knocking them down at a career-high clip, a sparkling 86.9 percent.

The Bulls will hope their leading scorer comes out unhindered from this MRI, already having bad enough a time winning games with only six victories on the season.
