It's now been two weeks since we last saw Zach LaVine take the floor for the Chicago Bulls. He's been in the league's health and safety protocols for an extended period, but at this point, his return does not seem imminent.

According to Bulls head coach Billy Donovan, the team will be without LaVine for at least another week:

“We’re hopeful that this is probably gonna take another week is our best guess,” Donovan said, via Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun Times. “There’ll be things that he’ll have to do going into this week that are set by the league in terms of policies and protocols. We’ll probably have a much, much better idea of when his return would be, probably after this week is completed.”

When asked if he is able to provide a firm timetable on LaVine's return, Donovan said that the Bulls star still has “a little bit of time away from us.” Simply put, the Bulls still don't know exactly when LaVine will be able to play.

This actually isn't surprising considering the league's stringent health and safety protocols. After all, this is for the good of not only of LaVine himself but for everyone else that will come in contact with him.

The official word is that LaVine entered the NBA's health and safety protocols on April 15. It has not been confirmed if he actually tested positive for COVID-19 or if he just made contact with a patient.

For what it's worth, LaVine himself has taken to Twitter to provide an encouraging update on his current status:

Whatever the case may be, Chicago will need to continue to navigate their next few games without their superstar.
