There had been previous reports about Nikola Mirotic and the Chicago Bulls looking for a trade destination that benefitted both parties. But it appears he is not the only Bull on the trade block.

According to K.C. Johnson from The Chicago Tribune, two league executives, one from each conference, said the Bulls have gauged interest on third-year player Jerian Grant.

“Grant, acquired from the Knicks in the Derrick Rose trade, leads the Bulls in assist-to-turnover ratio but has shot just 29.9 percent from 3-point range,” wrote Johnson. “The organization likely wants to get a post-All-Star-break look at Cameron Payne, whose option was picked up for next season. And with LaVine also able to play backup point guard, Grant could be expendable.”

With Kris Dunn starting at point guard, Payne as a backup, and  LaVine getting set to play a lot of minutes, the opportunities for Grant under coach Fred Hoiberg would be slim to none.

Grant's minutes and scoring have increased, but his efficiency is certainly questionable. Other than having an outstanding 4.02 assist-to-turnover ratio, fifth in the NBA amongst players that have appeared in at least 20 games, according to Fox Sports Stats, his shooting percentages have dropped considerably.

This season, Grant shoots 41 percent from the field, 71.3 percent from the free-throw line, and as Johnson noted, under 30 percent from behind the 3-point line. All those stats are below his numbers last year; 42.5 percent from the field, 89 percent from the charity stripe, and 36.6 percent from three.

Despite a not-so-efficient campaign as of now, Grant is only 25 years old and could play better if he finds a better fit somewhere else. He has still a season-and-a-half left in his rookie contract, so that could help Chicago get something decent in return.
