The Chicago Bulls' interest in Vanderbilt guard Darius Garland is reportedly a smokescreen, as the front office led by John Paxson and Gar Forman are supposedly zeroing in on Virginia forward De’Andre Hunter, Duke swingman Cam Reddish and French wing Sekou Doumbouya with the seventh overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, according to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times.

The Bulls want to upgrade their point guard position, as Kris Dunn has disappointed in his first two years with the club. However, there are multiple veteran point guards set to hit the open market this summer, so it looks like Chicago wants to draft a forward in the draft and address its point guard situation in free agency.

One source told the Sun-Times that the Bulls’ interest in Darius Garland is more smokescreen than reality and that the front office is zeroing in on wings De’Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish and Sekou Doumbouya as higher priorities.

Chicago's roster is currently headlined by Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen, Otto Porter and Wendell Carter Jr. Adding another forward to the fold would Chicago good depth at the position.

Both Garland and Reddish are entering the draft coming off surgeries. Garland had knee surgery, while Reddish underwent core muscle surgery.
