The deal that will bring in Quincy Pondexter from the New Orleans Pelicans may be the news that’s been making headlines for the Chicago Bulls lately, but they have also made another move in their front office that could help them in their rebuilding process.

The team announced that they have hired Shawn Respert to be their new director for player development, and will start with them soon to help them prepare for next season.

Shawn Respert starred for Michigan State during his NCAA days, before being selected as the eighth overall pick in the 1995 draft. He spent four seasons in the NBA, appearing for four different franchises, including the Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, and Milwaukee Bucks. The 6-foot-3 guard appeared in 172 games in the league, before taking his talents to Italy and Poland, where he ended his pro career.

The 45-year-old also has experience in coaching, serving as the player development coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves from 2011-2013, before being named assistant coach of the Memphis Grizzlies from 2014-2016.
