In his 13th year in the NBA, Chicago Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan orchestrated arguably his most complete season to date. From his career-high in points per game (27.9) to his five total 40-plus point games, he led the way for the Bulls en route to a return to the playoffs.

Overall, one could question on whether DeRozan’s stern style of play will age well in today’s NBA. For the five-time All-Star, he has “hope” that if LeBron James can adjust his game and still be a vital player at age 37, he will also be able to follow this same blueprint.

“If LeBron is doing what he's doing, I got hope,” DeRozan said during his end-of-season press conference on Thursday.

James has continued to prove that even as he is nearing the end of his career in the NBA, he can still rejuvenate his game on the fly. DeRozan accomplished this task to an extent in his debut season with the Bulls.

For one, DeRozan emerged as an efficient 3-point shooter this season, posting a career-high in 3-point field goal percentage (35.2 percent).

More so, DeRozan continued to be a lethal scorer from the paint, although he did add another dimension to his game. He averaged 6.0 pull-up makes per game this season, which was up from his final campaign with the San Antonio Spurs last year (3.2).

Not many veteran players as of late have been able to adapt to today’s fast-paced NBA, but DeRozan sure has what it takes to revamp his style of play as he nears his mid-30s.
