Call of Duty has a long-standing history of being one of the best shooters in modern history. Its transition to the battle royale format quickly resulted in success. Players enjoyed the endless action and excitement playing Call of Duty: Warzone and it doesn't seem like Activision plans to abandon such a successful game.

Recently, the official COD Twitter account published an ominous announcement simply stating that “the end is near…” Additionally, the tweet pointed towards the date April 21, 2021. Fans speculate the announcement might be referencing the rumored Warzone map-nuking event. Activision made no specific declarations but players everywhere wait in excitement.

IS CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE COMING TO AN END?

Fans attempted to pry more information from the developers but to no avail. Activision has no plans of showing its hand earlier than it needs to. Numerous video game leaks flooded the internet in recent days. Activision desperately wants to be separated from that group.

The short clip in the announcement only displays an archaic computer. The old screen displays a glitching-out image of a skull. The clip closes out with the targeted date and time for the event.

In recent weeks, rumors and leaks around the internet suggest that Warzone's Verdansk map might be in store for a nuclear bombardment. The damage to the map might transition to a re-design of the map into a Cold War-era version. The projected Cold-War era Warzone map is in keeping with the current Black Ops Cold War storyline.

Recently, Activision cracked down on the Warzone leak that spread online. The developers aggressively attacked the published videos but the damage has already been done. Now, it looks like the leaked destruction video has a lot to do with the upcoming event next week for Warzone.
