The Chicago Bears' offensive struggles have been directly linked to Mitchell Trubisky at the quarterback position. With that being said, can Trubisky get his season back on track this week against the Detroit Lions?

Of course, there is always a chance for anything to happen (cue the “anything is possible” clip of Kevin Garnett). But for Trubisky, it's hard to envision him flipping the script anytime soon.

The Bears' quarterback has faltered in his third season in the NFL with a mere 1,217 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions in seven starts. Due to his struggles from under center, Chicago's offense has fallen to 30th in passing offense and 27th in scoring.

Just last year, Matt Nagy won the NFL's Coach of the Year Award. The first-year head coach was given the award after leading the Bears to a 12-4 record. In 2018, the Bears boasted the ninth-best scoring offense in the NFL.

As for this year, the Bears are 3-5 and are likely to miss the playoffs.

Despite the entire team playing lackadaisical, the majority of the fingers are pointing to Trubisky as the catalyst for the team's hardships. Even with a favorable matchup in Week 10, there's no reason to believe that the third-year quarterback can improve his play from under center.

Just last week, Trubisky was given a chance to excel against a downtrodden Philadelphia Eagles secondary. On the contrary, Trubisky finished with just 125 yards on 10 completions as Chicago lost the game 22-14.

At one point, Trubisky and the Bears' offense had just nine yards when the teams went into the locker room at halftime. Nevertheless, there's a marginal chance that Chicago's franchise quarterback can revert back to the quarterback he was in 2018 this week.

The Lions have the 30th-ranked pass defense (288.4) and the 27th-ranked scoring defense (27.1) in the NFL. Furthermore, in the past four games, Detroit has surrendered 295 passing yards and 30.5 points per game.

Even considering that, Trubisky will continue to fall short of performing at the level that is expected of him. When watching Trubisky, there are plenty of concerns that have been there since his rookie season.

Above all, the North Carolina product's accuracy and decision-making has failed to improve over the past three years. That makes Chicago's notorious decision to select Trubisky over both Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson even more puzzling.

The situation has gotten to the point where fans in Chicago are calling for the organization to go in a different direction. When that begins to happen, the situation tends to get even worse, not better. That is exactly what is going to transpire for Trubisky in Week 10 versus the Lions.
