Chicago Sky forward Candace Parker joined the panel of NBA on TNT alongside former NBA greats in Shaquille O'Neal and Dwyane Wade. Parker showed her basketball wits as she lectured Shaq on the pick-n-roll schemes being used in modern basketball.

According to Parker, everyone in the league already knows how to switch on defense since almost every player can knock down a shot from beyond the arc today. This is very much apparent with the proliferation of even big men who can consistently knock down shots from behind the arc, a rarity back in Shaq's days in the NBA.

Shaq then asked why they couldn't play straight-up defense and rotate instead.

Wade took Parker's side of the discussion and claimed that rotating on the floor won't be effective as teams already deploy almost four to five shooters on the court who are capable of draining a three-point basket.

In Shaq's defense, he couldn't relate to the style of basketball being played today since players in the past tend to go hard at the post instead of settling for outside jumpers during the early to mid-2000s. On the other hand, Parker definitely knows a thing or two about the current schemes being used as she remains to be an active player for the Sky in the WNBA.

Her 13 years of playing in a professional league definitely prove that she has sufficient knowledge in addressing the subject matter. Afterward, O'Neal jokingly rebutted that he successfully won a championship by playing straight-up defense instead of switching during his playing days.

Perhaps Shaquille O'Neal can opt to take time and watch some film so he won't be embarrassed on air again.
